At group time we were reading a story about African animals. I turn to the next page that has a couple of animals, including the giraffe. When I got finished talking one little boy shouts out that the giraffe is like a dinosaur. He continues "All the dinosaurs in Alberta died in the 90's....Hey my parents met in the 90s!!!!".

So three of the boys were attempting to whistle. One of them got thirsty and got some water and guzzled it down. Then went on with his whistling. Then all of a sudden a light bulb went on over his head!!!! After I drank water...I could whistle better. The next thing you know they all are lining up at the sink with their cups....Filling them right up....and drinking them as fast as they could!!!. Then did a few good whistles and then they were back to the sink for more water. I saw what was happening and strongly encouraged them that the amount of water they were putting in their mouth would soon send them all running to the bathroom! I assured them that either licking their lips or putting just a tiny little bit of water in their cup would do the trick just fine.

As I go to collect my things inside before leaving work for the day one little 2 year old follows me inside. I soon learn that he is looking for a drink of water. I inform him that his water bottle is sitting on the table outside and to get a drink from there. But he still proceeds to take off his shoes. I urge him to get them back on and go get his water bottle outside. By this point he was a little frustrated with me...He all of a sudden blurts out "I am going to pick you up...and throw you in the river!!!". I busted into laughter...and so did he (cause I was)!!! I told him..."good luck with that". Considering that fact that he is two...and that there are no rivers in sight. What a kid. And just so you know...he did get those shoes back on while we laughed...then ran outside and bee lined to his water bottle.

This morning this one little three year old arrives at daycare. She is the first to arrive and no other children had showed up yet. She tells me in her most serious voice "I'm way to busy to be here at daycare!!!". I asked her what all she had to do today...I believe it had something to do with camping. Then she went on for a while saying that she really did not have the time to be at daycare and that she was way to busy for this.

One day this one three year old boy says to me "I'm little right, Sarah?". "Yes you sure are but you are growing bigger and stronger every day". He then states "When I get big I'm going to wear Axe like my Dad".

One morning after her mom dropped her off I was chatting with a sweet 5 year old girl. She turned to me...changing the subject says "When I am big enough to drive...I'm going to drink coffee!!!".

Something that has baffled me for a while. There are 2 or 3 kids at work that feel the need to take off one of their shoes during lunch time. JUST ONE. It's an everyday occurrence and it's the only time they do it. I personally would not wear any shoes if I had the choice. But one shoe?? Humm.

I had just returned to sit at a table with a couple kids when I hear the one little guy pipe up. "Imagine we had NO teachers!!!...(short pause)...We could do whatever we wanted!!!".

A group of four boys playing with some trains and Lego. One four year old shouts "Who just farted??". The other three say "not me!". Then the first boy giggles a little and shouts "I DID IT!!!".
Boys will be boys.

While exploring the woods and a swap like area with the kids. Suddenly my coworker shouts!! SHARK!!! All the kids scream...and the kid to scream the loudest was the one with the shark hoodie on. I know that was a mean trick to play...but it was soooo incredibly funny to see the look on that boys face.

While sitting down beside a 2 year old little girl. I watched as she admired the jar that held a few live crickets (she was looking at one in particular). She soon turned to me with a bright smile on her face and with a little giggle and said "They are soooo cute and cuddly!!!". Now a cricket is not usually the first thing I think about as "cute and cuddly" but is was cute to see/ hear her thoughts on these critters.

Mother's Day Edition!!

So I put together a fun little gift for Mother's Day for all the daycare moms...with the kids help of course!! So it was a picture frame made of Popsicle sticks (with bright colored thread wrapped around the four corners). The kids colored them beautifully. Next I put up the letters on the wall "I Love You Mom Because". I then asked them what they loved about their mom and then wrote it on a small chalk board. I then got the child to stand beside the words on the wall while holding the chalk board.
Now these are some things that they came up with.

I Love You Mom Because:

~You make Crepes

~ You turn the TV on and give me fruit snacks

~ You take me on walks

~ You give great hugs

~ You play with me and give great hugs

~ You play with me

~ You always say I love you

~ You give great hugs

~You make my favorite food

~ I love you all the time

~ You give me stickers

Now these kids are all from the ages of 3-5 year old.

While sitting and playing with toy trains. One little girl looks at my arm and says "You have fur!". I told her that it was brown hair and that she had hair on her arms too except hers was blond so she could not see it as easily! Then one little guy playing there too pipes up "I have grey hair! (pointing at his head)". I said to him "you must be very old than". He then proudly holds up four fingers!!
